Audiovisual Translation
This type of translation involves working with audiovisual materials which contain image and sound. Thanks to audiovisual translations, computer games, TV programmes, series and films can be comfortably enjoyed by a larger audience. Translators have to be able to select the most important information (the source text must often be condensed in the translation which has to preserve the original meaning at the same time). Moreover, they have to be highly creative and be able to adapt the text to the needs of an audience from a different cultural background.
There are several forms of audiovisual translations. I can provide you with:
– Subtitles for a video file
– A text for a voice-over
I currently work for large international language service providers from Europe, USA and Singapore. I have translated training videos for companies as well as television programmes, series and films commissioned by Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, among others.
During my studies at the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw, I completed an audiovisual translation course. Moreover, my Master thesis (‘Audiovisual translation of humorous elements. Professional translation and fansubbing’) and my first translation assignments for a film festival were related to this type of translation.
I use subtitling software (EZTitles and my clients’ programs). I also quickly learn how to use new tools if required.
Thanks to professional audiovisual translation, you can reach a new audience from a different cultural background. In my translations, I will take cultural differences into account while preserving the meaning of the original and paying close attention to linguistic correctness and the smallest details. You can be sure that you will get a professional, reliable and timely translation.
